New Fronteirs in Heart Rate Variability and Social Coherence, Rollin McCraty

YouTube Video

For more than 30 years, the HeartMath Institute has been researching the heart-brain connection and learning how the heart influences our perceptions, emotions, intuition and health. In this talk Rollin McCraty delves into the concept of coherence in relation to the measurable variations in the rhythm of the heart. As it turns out, different emotions have different rhythmical signatures. Heart Coherence is a high performance and healthy state — physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually — that brings out the very best in us. It is the harmonious heart rhythm expressed when we feel emotions like gratitude, appreciation, compassion, and kindness and is an indication of good emotional regulation. The other area of research has been in social coherence — our capacity to get along. For groups of people or organisations of any kind, social coherence seems to be crucial to our ability to achieve anything as a group.
