Blood as a Vortex in the Aorta

A visualisation of blood leaving the heart using a 4D MRI. The blood flow shows a rotational pattern – it leaves the left ventricle ‘spinning’ creating a low pressure system or a vortex. The net result is that of a vacuum – blood is therefore not pumped as previously taught.
