Visuals of the Plasma Membrane
YouTube Video
A visualisation of the cell membrane or plasma membrane which contains and protects the contents of the cell, but also facilitates molecular traffic via gates, pumps, and receptors. Osmosis, facilitated diffusion, and active transport are all examples of molecular traffic across the cell membrane. There are also various forms of engulfment where the flexibility and self-sealing nature of the plasma membrane is demonstrated. These include phagocytosis, pinocytosis, and receptor-mediated endocytosis.
