Liver Webinar, March 2026

Webinar 1: Understanding the terrain – the liver’s architecture and function

In Chinese medicine, the liver is associated with the expansive Wood element, associated with Spring. It is our metabolic command centre of transformation and detoxification, in constant service to every cell, tissue, and organ in the body. When the liver functions harmoniously, it enlivens the whole biological system.

Yet in the fray of modern life, the liver is under unprecedented strain. Signs of imbalance are now commonplace – from fatty liver disease (increasingly seen even in children) to gall stones and gallbladder removal becoming almost par for the course. There has never been a more urgent time to honour this vital organ with our attention and understanding.

This two-part webinar series is designed to clarify and demystify the liver’s function and purpose, building a clear foundation from which may learn how best to nourish and sustain this biological core – for ourselves and those we guide.

In this first session, we’ll embark on a guided tour through the liver’s remarkable landscape. You’ll gain a clear understanding of:

  • Its dazzling structure: The intricate design of hexagonal lobules and the specialized community of cells within.
  • The biochemistry of bile: How bile is created, its essential flow, and its role in digestion and detoxification.
  • The liver’s greater network: Its central role in metabolism, hormonal health, and detoxification, and its intimate connections with the gut, heart, and brain.
  • Root causes of dysfunction: Key drivers of liver imbalance and their downstream effects, including how to interpret common lab tests and scans.

This lesson includes:

  • Detailed slide deck with mind maps and illustrative graphics
  • Webinar recording (video and MP3 audio – 90+ minutes)
  • Helpful glossary of key terms
  • BONUS handouts and guides
  • Curated third-party resources for further learning
  • Discount coupons for related lessons from the School’s Library of Courses

This is part 1 in a 2-part series that aims to improve your skills and deepen your appreciation of this particular niche of the body’s terrain. For part 2, see the April 2026 webinar.
