Description

In Course II we explore the nature of the self from a biological perspective – what lies in the mysterious human genome, and what can (and can’t) it tell us about ourselves? The microbiome is covered in this section as it accounts for a startling number of the cells within the human system, and affects our mood, immune function and even how our genes are expressed. An understanding of the immune system itself is essential to grasping how the body determines self versus other, and the dire consequences when that boundary blurs. In the final lesson of the course we touch on the concepts of complexity and systems thinking to help us find ease amidst the dizzying  array of factors that coalesce to form the human self.
LESSONS:
  • II(1): Genome
  • II(2): Epigenetics
  • II(3): Microbiome
  • II(4): Our Inner Skin
  • II(5): Immunity Innate
  • II(6): Immunity Adaptive
  • II(7): Complexity Systems Thinking
