Description

Stoking the fire without burning the house down. In course V the overarching theme is that of balance. We begin by  exploring the delicate interplay between pro-oxidant processes in the body that keep our vital fire alight, and the more cooling and calming anti-oxidant system that works to contain the fire. What follows is a study of meta-inflammation, a state comparable to a runaway fire, and one that is so prevalent in our post-modern bodies. We then return to the biochemical and physiological details of allostasis and the laboratory assessments that help us assess a body out of balance. We end with a look at modern dis-ease in a historical context, taking in a broad view that surveys all the contributing factors including the environment and the social milieu.
LESSONS
  • V(1): Oxidant and Antioxidant System
  • V(2): Meta Inflammation [New Lesson Coming Soon!]
  • V(3): Allostatic Load and Its Assessment
  • V(4): Our Current Malaise
